A 10-year-old child has died in hospital after being injured in a head-on collision east of Perth on Saturday, according to Ontario Provincial Police.
An oncoming pickup truck
struck a marked OPP vehicle
on Highway 7 just before 4:30 p.m. between Drummond School Road and Drummond Concession 7.
The child, one of three occupants in the pickup truck, was transported to a regional hospital by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries and died the following day, according to a Monday news release.
The two other occupants of the pickup truck remain in hospital and are being treated for serious injuries, OPP said.
The OPP officer is recovering from serious but non-life-threatening injuries, the release added.
The Special Investigations Unit says it is not currently investigating the incident.
