A teenager has been arrested and charged in connection with the stabbing death of a 71-year-old Toronto woman.
Authorities say the attack happened in a North York plaza on July 17, near Parkway Forest Drive and Sheppard Avenue East.
Officers located the victim, 71-year-old Shahnaz Pestonji, with stab wounds just after 9:30 a.m. and transported her to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The suspect fled the area before police arrived at the scene.
On Sunday, authorities announced the arrest of a 14-year-old boy from Toronto. He faces a single change of second-degree murder and cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
He is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Monday, July 21, 2025.
