A $38,000 scam involving fake event tickets — including tickets believed to be for Taylor Swift’s Toronto concerts — has Peel police searching for a Toronto man.
The fraudulent alleged Swift tickets, as well as Formula One race tickets, sold to a victim were disguised as coming from legitimate and reputable companies, according to a police media release.
“Given the heightened concert awareness in the GTA this week, it is believed he may still be actively seeking additional unsuspecting victims,” police said, referring to Swift’s six Eras Tour concerts at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
Officers worked a “comprehensive investigation” from February to October 2024 after they received multiple fraud reports.
On Wednesday, police issued an arrest warrant for a 37-year-old man from Toronto on charges of fraud over $5,000 and failure to comply with a release order. Police said the suspect is already on a judicial release for similar charges.
Investigators are warning people to be vigilant for further scams.
