REGINA – Regina’s new breast health centre is planning to open next week providing surgeries, diagnostics and followup care all under one roof that the health minister says will reduce wait times.
Jeremy Cockrill says the facility has capacity to do more screening and can take in about 1,600 referrals each year.
He also says health-care staff will work together to provide a streamlined experience for patients, who now only need to come to the one facility.
The Opposition NDP says it has concerns the Saskatchewan Party government is only moving staff from one building to another.
It says four staff are moving from the breast assessment centre at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina to work at the new facility and that other existing health workers have also been hired.
Cockrill says the new centre is replacing the one at the hospital but he did not say where the new staff were hired from.
