Additional long-term lane closures will take effect today on the Gardiner Expressway.

As of Wednesday, the westbound Gardiner Express will be reduced from four lanes to three lanes east of Park Lawn Road to Grand Avenue.

This lane closure will be in place until May 2026.

Until November 2026, eastbound Gardiner Expressway lanes from Grand Avenue to east of Park Lawn Road will be narrowed but with no lane reductions.

This is part of the next phase of rehabilitation work on the Gardiner Expressway, including critical repairs to five bridges.

“While full rehabilitation for this section is currently scheduled to start as soon as 2027, condition assessments have identified these five bridges as requiring repairs in advance of 2027,” the city stated in a news release.

On April 7, Islington Avenue, which passes over the Gardiner Expressway, was reduced from three lanes in each direction to two lanes in each direction.

Kipling Avenue will be reduced from three lanes to two in each direction at the Gardiner Expressway overpass, with the start date yet to be confirmed.
