Kingston police say they discovered illicit drugs hidden in takeout rotisserie chicken containers while responding to a report of a rowdy guest at a hotel Tuesday night.
Police said patrol officers were called to the downtown hotel at around 9:45 p.m. after the man was allegedly threatening hotel staff.
Officers determined the man and staff were involved in a “verbal argument” which resulted in the staff asking the man to leave.
The individual responded by threatening the staff and returning to his hotel room, where police said they later found him and arrested him.
A search of the room uncovered two pellet handguns, police said.
The suspect was taken to Kingston police headquarters, along with his belongings.
Investigators at the station found 46.1 grams of fentanyl, 10.8 grams of cocaine and 25.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine hidden inside the rotisserie packages.
Police charged the man, who was from the GTA, with three counts of possession of a “schedule I” substance for the purposes of trafficking. Schedule 1 drugs include opium derivates, cocaine and methamphetamine
The suspect was also charged with weapons offences and probation violations.
He attended a bail hearing, but was subsequently remanded into custody.
