Polls close across Atlantic provinces in historic federal election

OTTAWA – Polls have closed across Atlantic Canada, after Canadians cast their ballots Monday following a short, intense and heated campaign to choose the next federal government.

The first polls closed in Newfoundland and Labrador at 7 p.m. EDT, followed by polls in Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
