OTTAWA – The Conservative caucus has chosen Saskatchewan MP-elect Andrew Scheer as the interim Opposition leader in the House of Commons to lead the party in Parliament during the spring sitting.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre lost his re-election bid to represent the riding of Carleton on April 28, and cannot serve as the Opposition leader in Parliament without a seat.
