Honda's plans to delay electric vehicle factories 'a blow to the community'

Honda has stalled a $15-billion electric vehicle investment in Ontario by two years, plunging the province’s already shaky automotive industry into greater tariff anxiety.

Touted as a major addition to Ontario’s manufacturing base when it was announced in April 2024 by the Japanese automaker, Premier Doug Ford and then-prime minister Justin Trudeau, the ambitious EV project hit roadblocks from a slowdown in EV sales and tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
