Court documents show that a man accused of a femicide in Gloucester and a stabbing at The Royal had also been involved in a third arrest the day before those incidents.

On June 1, Stephen Doane was charged with indecent exposure in a public place and assault against an arresting officer.

A suspect had been found “completely nude” near a strip mall on Bridle Path Drive, the documents said.

After being arrested and charged, the man was released from custody and ordered to stay away from Grumpy’s Pub & Eatery, also located on Bridle Path Drive, and to reside in his apartment in a building on Carousel Crescent, close to the strip mall and where Tracey Duncan was found dead on June 2.

Where an accused usually signs their name to acknowledge release conditions, someone wrote that the suspect was “in hospital custody/very agitated.”

In addition to being charged with second-degree murder in connection with the killing of Duncan, Doane was also charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon and aggravated assault of a man in his 50s at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre on the evening of June 2.
