Remember to bring your umbrellas if you’re
planning to go out on Canada Day.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says it will be a hot and “soupy” day on Tuesday. Daytime temperatures will peak at around 27 C with a 70 per cent chance of thunderstorms and showers.
At night, temperatures will hover around 17 C with a 30 per cent chance of showers, just in time
for the fireworks
.
“This is very normal. In fact, some people might even see Ottawa as one of the (thunderstorm) hot spots,” said ECCC meteorologist Crawford Luke.
“It just seems like they get a lot of a lot of thunderstorms each summer. Unfortunately, it always seems to happen on
Canada Day.
Definitely something Ottawa has seen a lot of times before.”
The Humidex level will be at 35 throughout the day.
And don’t forget the sunscreen — the ECCC says the UV index will be 8 or “very high” tomorrow.
Those looking to partake in the Canada Day festivities downtown should be aware of the forecast and find ways to stay dry, Luke said.
“Make sure you have an indoor place to go just in case you do get a thunderstorm, just because lightning is obviously dangerous,” he added.
