Ottawa Fire Services said one person suffered smoke inhalation injuries in a high-rise fire on Metcalfe Street Friday morning.
Firefighters were alerted at 8:42 a.m. when a 911 caller reported a kitchen fire in a 10th-floor apartment in the 300 block of Metcalfe Street.
Firefighters arrived within minutes of the call and confirmed smoke coming from the roof of the 11-storey high-rise.
Teams quickly accessed the 10th-floor unit, locating visible flames.
The fire was contained before it could spread.
A full search of the apartment was conducted and no one was found inside.
The fire was declared under control at 8:55 a.m. and residual smoke was ventilated out of the structure.
One resident was assessed and treated for smoke inhalation.
An Ottawa Fire Service investigator was dispatched to the scene.
