St. Elsewhere, a vegan restaurant and wine bar, is set to close at the end of August.

The restaurant announced it’s final month of operation on social media on Aug. 3, ending its two-year run on Somerset Street West.

“We’ve enjoyed our time offering our community a fun and creative vegan experience,” the restaurant wrote on Instagram.

“But, unfortunately we have come to make the difficult decision to close our doors and say goodbye.”

Aug. 31 will be the restaurant’s final day of service.

St. Elsewhere, marked by its neon sign that hung over its small front in Chinatown, served plant-based twists on beloved favourites like a lentil burger, udon chopped salad and beet tartare.

The establishment also served brunch on weekends.

St. Elsewhere opened in the fall of 2023 by chef Tyler Da Silva of

, with seasoned chef Martin Levesque, formerly of the plant-based restaurant

Astoria Bistro Botanique in Gatineau

, as chef de cuisine.

The Ottawa Citizen

described the decor and atmosphere

as a “casual but classy vibe, an improvement on the cafeteria ambience of some vegetarian and vegan haunts.”

Da Silva did not immediately return requests for comment.
