Quick action by alert lifeguards and staff resulted in the arrest Friday of an Ottawa man in his 40s who was “acting suspiciously” around children at the Mont Cascades waterpark in Cantley.
The MRC Des Collines de l’Outaouais police said in a release that officers reported to the park and took the man into custody.
Police did not identify the suspect, saying only that they had identified him as a “repeat sex offender” who was forbidden by the courts from any public place where children were present.
The man appeared in court Saturday on charges of voyeurism, breach of conditions, impersonation and obstruction of police.
Police said the investigation would continue and the suspect could face additional charges of child pornography.
“The MRC des Collines (police) asks the public to remain vigilant and to report anyone displaying suspicious behaviour and actions,” the release said.
