The Ottawa police are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect after an 87-year-old was assaulted in a road rage incident July 29 on Richmond Road at about 3:30 p.m.
A male suspect approached the man from behind, swearing and yelling that the victim had cut him off while driving. The suspect then assaulted the victim by pushing him to the ground.
By the time the victim was able to get back to his vehicle, the suspect had fled the scene. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the victim was driving a red Subaru Outback. The suspect was believed to be driving a dark-coloured vehicle.
The route the victim took to the 3000 block of Richmond Road included:
- Exiting the 417 westbound offramp at Woodroffe Avenue
- Turning left onto Carling Avenue
- Left onto Pinecrest Road, with a quick lane change to get to the westbound lanes on Richmond Road
- Right onto Richmond Road
- Left on Bellfield Street
- Finally, a right turn into the parking lot in the 3000 block of Richmond Road
Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have dashcam footage involving the two people in question to contact the Ottawa Police West Criminal Investigations Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 2666.
