WestJet customers are experiencing delays at Toronto’s Pearson Airport and other Canadian hubs due to a “system outage” Tuesday.
Pearson made the issue known to customers through a post on X. “Please check your flight status before travelling to the airport,” the post reads.
The airport says both arriving and departing flights are affected by the delays.
Ottawa’s international airport took to social media warning customers, citing “network-wide technical issues” as the cause.
Customers took to the platform with frustration over delays at airports in Calgary and Halifax as well.
“Several Canadian airports are currently experiencing disruptions due to a technical issue affecting @WestJet,” the Canadian Airports Council posted.
“WestJet experienced a temporary system outage that delayed the handover of aircraft from maintenance personnel for scheduled operation,” the airline said in an email to the Star. WestJet said they are pushing for a solution and a return to normal operations.
On Tuesday, WestJet said that personal data, including travelers’ documents, was stolen in a cyberattack earlier this year. The airline, however, noted that no credit or debit card information was taken in the attack.
