Police confirm two people were killed in a four-vehicle collision early Friday on Highway 7 near Maberly, west of Perth.

“The deceased individuals have been identified as a 59-year-old female and a 46-year-old male from Ottawa,” provincial police said in a release. The victims were in the same vehicle.

Two other victims were taken to a regional trauma centre by Air Ornge. Another victim was taken to hospital in Ottawa and one taken to a local hospital.

Police said the collision involved two transport trucks, a pick-up truck and a sport utility vehicle (SUV). All individuals involved are adults.

“As part of the ongoing investigation it appears the two transport trucks and the SUV were travelling eastbound and the pick-up truck was travelling westbound,” police said in a release.

Police said Highway 7 will remain closed between County Rd 36 and County Rd 511 for several hours with detours in place.

“The investigation is in the early stages and a more detailed release will follow when details are known,” provincial police said in the release.

The OPP asked anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam video of the crash to contact the investigators at the Lanark County Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
