Life-threatening injuries have been reported in a serious multi-vehicle crash and fire on Highway 401 in Kingston on Friday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police
said the crash involving a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck in the highway’s westbound lanes occurred shortly before 3 a.m.
Several emergency vehicles remain at the scene.
As of shortly after 5 a.m., police reported the highway was closed between Joyceville Road in Gananoque and Battersea Road/Montreal Street in Kingston.
“Closure expected to last for several hours for the investigation and clean-up efforts,” OPP said on social media.
“Minor roadway repairs may be required prior to reopening,” police said on social media.
