An outage that took down customs kiosks at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Sunday has been resolved, but passengers may still face “short term” delays..
Pearson confirmed around 12:45 p.m. Sunday that Canada Border Services Agency’s primary inspection kiosks were experiencing a service interruption. The agency said there were system issues earlier in the day before the full outage began around 4 p.m. EDT.
The outage has since been resolved, the CBSA said in a post on X close to 2:15 a.m. “Travellers may continue to experience delays in the short term as we resume normal processing operations,” the agency said.
In a statement to the Star, a CBSA spokesperson said the outage was caused by an unforeseen technical issue during routine maintenance.
In the kiosks’ absence, travellers were being manually processed, the agency said, with border services officers verifying passengers’ identities and conducting any additional screening necessary.
The outage had also affected Trudeau International Airport in Montreal as well as Calgary International Airport on Sunday.
