TORONTO – Canada’s main stock index was up more than 250 points in a broad-based rally, while U.S. stock markets also pushed higher in late-morning trading.
The S&P/TSX composite index was up 267.61 points at 30,428.20.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 335.87 points at 46,855.59. The S&P 500 index was up 26.85 points at 6,742.20, while the Nasdaq composite was up 56.83 points at 22,900.88.
The Canadian dollar traded for 71.66 cents US compared with 71.62 cents US on Thursday.
The November crude oil contract was up 65 cents US at US$61.13 per barrel.
The December gold contract was up US$33.90 at US$3,902.00 an ounce.
