Two men from Quebec have been charged with arson and a warrant has been obtained for the arrest of a third individual in connection with an early August fire at a pizza restaurant in Hawkesbury, the Ontario Provincial Police said Friday.

An Oct. 3 news release by the OPP said officers from the Hawkesbury detachment had responded to the arson at the restaurant on James Street just before 11:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4. Witnesses reported seeing two men walk away from the scene, it added.

Following an investigation, Mohamed Guire, 21, was arrested in Montreal with assistance from police in that city, and Sammaih Phillips Bonhommette, 21, was apprehended in Saint-Léonard, Que.

Both, the OPP release said, have been charged with arson and have been released from custody following bail hearings. Court appearances at L’Orignal were set for Oct. 15 for Phillips Bonhommette and for Oct. 22 for Guire.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a 20-year-old man wanted for arson and for failing to comply with a release order, the OPP said.

Two other fires at Hawkesbury-area pizza restaurants remained under investigation, the release said, adding that investigators could speculate on any potential connection between the incidents.
