Ottawa firefighters administered oxygen to at least one of “a number” dogs trapped in a fire at a commercial structure on Beech Street Friday night.

Callers reported flames visible through the building’s windows at about 10:20 p.m.

First responders confirmed the smoke and heavy flames and a
“working fire” was declared to summon additional resources to the scene.

Search teams conducted two

searches of the structure and no human occupants were found inside.

The fire was declared under control at 10:36 p.m.

It’s unclear where the dogs came from, but crews administered the oxygen as a precaution.

There were no other human or canine injuries reported.
