TORONTO – Canada’s main stock index fell in late-morning trading, weighed down by losses in the technology and energy sectors, while U.S. stock markets also moved lower.
The S&P/TSX composite index was down 70.64 points at 30,461.24.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 57.21 points at 46,637.76. The S&P 500 index was down 18.82 points at 6,721.46, while the Nasdaq composite was down 96.19 points at 22,845.48.
The Canadian dollar traded for 71.72 cents US compared with 71.66 cents US on Monday.
The November crude oil contract was down 18 cents US at US$61.51 per barrel.
The December gold contract was up US$27.70 at US$4,004.00 an ounce.
