Some North Frontenac Township residents were evacuating their homes on Sunday evening due to a spreading fire.
In a social media post just before 7 p.m., the OPP said Highway 509 north of Mississippi Station to south of Ompah was closed due to an active fire. Minutes later, it said the fire was pushing north and east due to windy conditions.
In an update at 7:44 p.m., police said an emergency evacuation centre had been set up at the Ompah Community Hall at 10200 Highway 509 in Ompah.
No other information or details about the fire were immediately available.
North Frontenac Township is located about 130 km southwest of Ottawa.
