An elderly female with what paramedics described as a mix of injuries and medical complications was transported to hospital by air ambulance in serious condition following a single-vehicle rollover in Ottawa’s west end on Tuesday.
A second adult female who was a passenger in the vehicle was also transported to hospital by ground ambulance in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, a spokesperson for the Ottawa Paramedic Service said.
The rollover occurred mid-afternoon Tuesday on Highway 417 near Panmure Road in the West Carleton-March municipal riding.
Paramedics at the scene called for Ottawa Fire Services assistance to remove one of the two injured individuals who was trapped in the damaged vehicle.
OFS firefighters arrived at the crash site about 20 minutes after that call and, according to a news release, completed the extrication less than five minutes later.
