A number of schools in the city’s east end were placed in secure status Wednesday afternoon in an “abundance of caution,” Ottawa police said this afternoon.
“Area schools were put into secure schools (status) out of an abundance of caution, which are no longer in effect,” police reported in a social media message.
“There is no threat to public safety at this time,” OPS said.
Police said there was an “operation” in progress in the 900 block of Orléans Boulevard, with an increased police presence in the neighbourhood.
Police have not released any further information on the operation.
