Death of 21-year-old man ruled homicide by Ottawa police

Ottawa police have ruled that the death of a

21-year-old man whose body

was found in the city’s east end on Wednesday was a homicide.

A news release Thursday evening said the victim, identified as Joshua Qiyuk, had been stabbed.

His body was found early Wednesday in the 400 block of Meadow Park Place, east of the Beechwood Cemetery and near the Aviation Parkway.

The Oct. 23 release said anyone with information about the case was asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or online at crimestoppers.ca.

On Wednesday, police had said homicide unit investigators wanted to speak to anyone who may have captured dashcam video while driving on the Aviation Parkway between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Investigators were also looking to speak to anyone who observed pedestrians on the Aviation Pathway between Hemlock Road and Montreal Road between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
