A 38-year-old man found in a Centretown rooming house with gunshot wounds in the early morning hours of Oct. 15 has died.
The shooting is now being investigated as a homicide — the 17th so far this year in Ottawa, said police on Monday.
Nelson Getson was found in the residence at 568 Somerset St. W. just west of Bay Street shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 15. He was stabilized by paramedics before being taken to hospital in critical condition.
Getson, whose name was released Monday, succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Oct. 24, said police.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. However, police say there is no further risk to the public at this time.
