TORONTO – Losses in technology, telecom and mining helped push the S&P/TSX composite index down in late-morning trading, while U.S. markets were mixed.
The S&P/TSX composite was down 169.97 points at 30,090.77.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 187.67 points at 47,375.20. The S&P 500 index was up 5.74 points at 6,845.94, while the Nasdaq composite was up 92.46 points at 23,817.42.
The Canadian dollar traded for 71.14 cents US, compared with 71.34 cents US on Friday.
The December crude oil contract was up nine cents US at US$61.07 per barrel.
The December gold contract was up US$24.60 an ounce at US$4,021.10.
