On Oct. 18, a sea of pink-clad pickleball players took over Fairgrounds Public Racket Club in Leaside as Toronto’s finest dinked, smashed and volleyed for a cause at the second annual Pinkleball tournament. The 44 teams and partners collectively raised more than $170,000 for Rethink Breast Cancer, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event, co-chaired by Amanda Alvaro and Alison Lawler-Dean, featured a wellness hub for stretches and massages, an Air Miles-sponsored Pinklebar serving Pink Fizz cocktails, and Shake Shack burgers and Nutbar smoothies to keep the teams energized.
