TORONTO – A new survey says most Canadian businesses are using artificial intelligence in some form, but only a small fraction are seeing any return on their investments so far.
The report by KPMG Canada says its online survey of 753 business leaders across the country found that 93 per cent said their organizations are using AI, up from 61 per cent last year.
However, the survey says only two per cent of respondents said their organizations are seeing a return on their generative AI investments.
The report by the audit and consulting firm noted that 31 per cent have fully integrated generative AI across their core operations, while another 32 per cent have partially adopted generative AI.
It also says 20 per cent are in the early adoption phase and 17 per cent are in pre-adoption.
Three in 10 of those surveyed said they expect their AI investments to start generating a return within the year, while six in 10 said between one to five years.
KPMG in Canada surveyed 753 business leaders online between Aug. 15 and Sept. 3, 2025.
