A 39-year-old Brampton man faces a list of impaired driving charges after a transport truck left westbound Highway 401 and drove into a ditch near Augusta Township on Tuesday evening.
Officers from the Grenville detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were called to the scene east of Brockville at about 7 p.m.
The driver, who was not injured, was arrested and taken to Brockville municipal police for testing.
Following the tests, Sukhjinder Singh Gill was charged with:
- Dangerous operation
- Operation while impaired — alcohol
- Operation while impaired-blood concentration (80-plus)
- Driving a vehicle with liquor readily available
- Driving a vehicle with an open container of liquor
He was released from custody and was scheduled for a court appearance in Brockville on Dec. 12.
The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Police noted the transport was left in the ditch overnight to ensure it could be removed safely in daylight on Wednesday.
