It was a scene out of those Christmas TV specials:
At about 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve, an anxious mother and daughter rushed to Ottawa Fire Service Station 41 on Eagleson Road with a holiday emergency.
Their tiny brand-new kitten had become lodged behind the glove compartment of their vehicle.
Could the firefighters help?
Fortunately, firefighters are well-known for their knack of dismantling complicated equipment.
The men from platoon C brought the vehicle into the station and carefully disassembled parts of the dashboard to reach the “tiny stowaway.”
After a delicate extrication from a very tight space, “Snickers” was safely freed without injury.
“Just another reminder that our firefighters are always ready to help, no matter how small the call,” Ottawa fire said proudly in a statement.
