“Mentally, it’s just much, much better,” Labelle added. “When you go into the water, you dip right away, what happens is all your problems disappear because you’re dealing with the moment of what’s happening. So your mind is clear. After about 30 seconds of shock, your body gets numb from the cold, and it’s warmer in the water than it is outside because you’re numbed up. You just need about two minutes. You get out, and then you’re full of piss and vinegar for hours and hours and hours.”
