HALIFAX – The race for the leadership of the Prince Edward Island Progressive Conservative party is underway, with two men in the running.
The party posted to social media that Rob Lantz and Mark Ledwell have been approved as candidates for the leadership.
Lantz had served as interim-premier from February until December, when he stepped down to run for the permanent role.
Ledwell, a lawyer and business leader, has been a longtime party member and announced his intention to run for the leadership in May.
Party members will vote on their new leader at the party convention Feb. 7.
The party’s Facebook post said any new party members interested in voting at the convention must be signed up by Jan. 16.
