Steady snow flurries expected through weekend

Environment Canada is forecasting snowfall in the capital every day until at least the coming weekend.

Wednesday’s forecast is for a 60 per cent chance of flurries beginning in the afternoon.

Another two to four cm of snow is expected through the evening, with winds out of the northwest gusting to 40 km/h. The temperature is expected to drop to -13 C overnight, “feeling like” -23 in the wind.

About five cm of snow is expected Thursday, with the temperature steady near -12 C, feeling like -23 in the wind.

In the evening, the forecast is cloudy periods with a 30 per cent chance of flurries. The low should be around 20.

Guess what’s on the menu Friday? That’s right, periods of snow, with a high of -5 C.

Friday night is showing a 60 per cent chance of flurries. Oddly, the low is expected to also be -5 C.

Moving to the weekend, Saturday’s forecast is for a 60-per-cent chance of flurries, while Sunday is listed as a 40-per-cent chance with a high of -8 C.

Ottawa police and the OPP are cautioning drivers give yourself extra time, clear all the snow from your vehicle, including headlights and tail lights and slow down.
