Three teens have been charged with multiple offences in connection with a preventive lockdown at a Gatineau high school on Thursday.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 15, police responded to a call reporting a disturbance at l’École Polyvalente Le Carrefour on Chemin de la Savane in the Gatineau sector. A lockdown protocol was activated inside the school, leading to a major police deployment.

A Gatineau Police Service release on Jan. 16 said officers were able to confirm there was no active threat inside the school, so the lockdown ended around 2:30 p.m.

There were no injuries reported.

The three youths had left the area before police officers arrived, but were soon located nearby and arrested, police said in the news release.

Gatineau police subsequently laid charges for disturbing the peace, obstructing police work, wearing a disguise with intent to commit a crime, possession of a weapon, failure to comply with conditions and carrying a knife.

One of the three teenagers remained in custody following his court appearance, while the other two were released, police added.
