The Ottawa Hospital’s Biotherapeutics Manufacturing Centre has been located at TOH for the past two decades, manufacturing more than 20 therapies that use biological materials such as cells, genes and viruses to treat and prevent diseases. Dr. John Bell, a senior researcher at TOH who, with his team, has been developing cancer fighting viruses, played a crucial role in creation of the manufacturing centre as a means of bringing innovative research discoveries to patients. The products manufactured at the facility have been used in clinical trials around the world.
