TORONTO – OpenText Corp. has named former IBM executive Ayman Antoun as chief executive, effective April 20.
Antoun held numerous executive roles over 35 years at IBM, most recently as president of IBM Americas from 2020 to 2023, and before that as president of IBM Canada and general manager of global technology services.
He currently serves as a board member of TD Bank and CAE Inc.
OpenText says Antoun succeeds interim CEO James McGourlay, who is expected to move to another role within the executive leadership team at the company.
McGourlay, who was OpenText’s executive vice-president of international sales, has been in the interim CEO role since August last year when the board abruptly replaced Mark Barrenechea in the top job.
OpenText also says P. Thomas Jenkins, who was named executive chair and chief strategy officer at the same time last year, will return to the role of board chair.
