A woman was killed and a man was transported to hospital in stable condition following a two-vehicle collision in the rural southwest portion of Ottawa on Friday.
The head-on crash occurred around 5 p.m. in the 6000 block of Franktown Road between the community of Richmond and Conley Road.
Ottawa Fire Services used specialized equipment to extricate trapped individuals from both vehicles, a process lasting about five minutes.
The Ottawa Police Service posted on social media that it expected Franktown Road to remain closed in both directions between Conley and Joy’s roads for several hours during the investigation of the collision.
