A 44-year-old Ottawa man was killed early Saturday when he was struck at the side of the Highway 7 between Highway 511 and Glen Tay Road west of Perth.
Provincial police said on social medial that the crash occurred just before 1 a.m., after a minivan left the road and became stuck in the snow in the ditch.
A flatbed tow truck had been preparing to free the vehicle when an eastbound car struck both the minivan and the tow truck. The minivan’s driver, who had been standing near his vehicle, was also struck.
The driver of the car was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. His identity has not been released.
The tow truck operator and six people in the car were not hurt in the collision.
Highway 7 was closed overnight for the investigation.
