Anyone heading outside Tuesday morning in the Ottawa area should proceed with caution.
Environment Canada issued an advisory for the national capital Monday, calling for freezing drizzle overnight and into Tuesday morning.
“Patchy freezing drizzle producing icy and slippery conditions,” the advisory stated, adding that the “impact level” was to be moderate.
Roads, walkways and other surfaces will probably be icy and slippery, and icy surfaces could be difficult to detect, it stated.
The freezing drizzle is expected to end at some point Tuesday morning.
Fog patches were also in the forecast. They were to develop after midnight and end Tuesday morning.
Tuesday’s daytime high is to be 3 C, with the temperature dropping to a low of -8 C Tuesday night.
Highs for the rest of the week are expected to be at the freezing point or just below it, with a chance of flurries or snow every day except Thursday, which is to see a mix of sun and cloud.
