TORONTO – Artificial intelligence is increasing the fear of fraud in Canada.
A new poll released by TD Bank says three in four of the Canadians surveyed are feeling more vulnerable to financial fraud because of AI advancements.
Some 86 per cent of the poll respondents are more concerned about fraud than they were five years ago.
Eighty-two per cent believe scams are becoming progressively harder to spot and 24 per cent said they or a family member had recently been a victim of fraud.
The results are based on a Léger poll for TD run between Dec. 18 and Jan. 5. It questioned 1,517 Canadian adults and 262 business owners in the country participated.
The companies say surveys of this size have an estimated margin of error plus or minus 2.5 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
