Canada-wide arrest warrant issued by Ottawa police in October 2025 homicide case

A Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued for Zakarye Abdi-Jama in connection with an October homicide near Ottawa Trainyards.

Abdi-Jama, 19, is charged with second-degree murder in the

stabbing death

of 21-year-old Raphael Atende in the 1700 block of Russell Road on Oct. 18, 2025.

Abdi-Jama’s whereabouts are currently unknown, the Ottawa Police Service said in a Friday news release.

Atende’s death was the 15th of the 

19 homicides

reported in Ottawa in 2025.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5493. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or online at crimestoppers.ca.
