Nothing beats cosying up at a pub. Some offer quiet respite: slip into a booth, toss back a pint, dig into some fish and chips or the perfect cheeseburger, perhaps throw a dart or two. Some pubs are loud and lively, packed with match-day soccer fans or weekend crowds, buzzing with conversation and live music as you scan the room for a coveted open table or stool.
In an era where community gathering places are dwindling, pubs feel more vital than ever, offering a welcoming place to gather with friends and family, or meet a neighbour or new pal or two.
We Torontonians are lucky to live in a city filled with many wonderful pubs offering good beer and even better conversation — and we want to hear about them.
