That first application, which Atwood filed on behalf of the NPF, sought to recover “approximately $3.39 million” in union dues that Atwood alleged a previous board of directors, including Sauvé and 15 others, paid themselves without alerting the membership. Atwood’s application claimed the directors were looking to cover losses in benefits they believed they suffered after the RCMP chose not to recognize their higher union salaries when calculating their pensions.
