The battle for the leadership of the NDP is over.
One of the highest-profile figures in the race, Avi Lewis beat four other contenders to replace former leader Jagmeet Singh. He was announced as the party’s new leader at the Winnipeg convention on March 29.
New Democrats voted in the ranked-ballot contest with other candidates including Heather McPherson, Rob Ashton, Tanille Johnston and Tony McQuail. The seven-month race came as the left-wing party tried to rebuild from its worst-ever election outcome last year.
To make sense of the results, join the Star’s federal politics reporter Mark Ramzy at 1 p.m. today for a live Q&A session.
