One man was transported to hospital in critical condition and another in police custody following an assault in downtown Ottawa on Wednesday, April 1.
The
Ottawa Police Service
posted online that it was investigating the assault that occurred just after 2 p.m. near the intersection of Colonel By Drive and
Rideau Street
.
An
Ottawa Paramedic Service
spokesperson said the first man was treated for “blunt force trauma injuries.”
No other details were immediately available.
On Feb. 19, 58-year-old Gilles Comtois died after being stabbed during an altercation in the same area. That was the fourth homicide of the year reported by Ottawa police.
One day later, Ottawa police announced that 70-year-old Yves Brisebois had been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Comtois.
