Ottawa’s fraud and waste hotline leads to five firings in 2025

Across all city departments, the corrective actions included 37 instances of a mandatory review of policies or procedures, 15 written communications to all department staff, 11 letters of warning, 10 verbal warnings, five days of paid suspension issued, five terminations, three letters of discipline and one instance of “repayments and recoveries.”
