OPP investigating after person found injured in Perth park dies

The Lanark County OPP detachment is investigating after a person was found in a Perth park with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead in hospital.

On Sunday, April 12, at 3:15 p.m., OPP officers responded to Last Duel Park where the injured person was located before being taken to a trauma centre, police said in a news release.

“Preliminary information suggests this is an isolated incident, with no signs of a broader threat,” the release stated. It labelled the death as suspicious, but the OPP released no further details when contacted by the Ottawa Citizen.

According to the OPP release, area residents will see an increased police presence as the investigation continues.

The investigation is being conducted by the Lanark County OPP, under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, police said.
